Resurrection Workshops: Writing Eulogies and Commemorating Beloved Tech
- Duration
- Aim
- Resurrection is a creative writing workshop where the participants gather to think
and
write about death in technologies. I usually try to make it so that the idea of tech
is very
general and it is whatever the participants experience as technology. Besides the
general aim to
create awareness towards consumerist waste cultures in digital media/um/s, I want to
make it so
that the participant think about the life and death of the technologies. The aim is
to create a
political awareness as well as a cultural one.
- Structure
- First I have a small presentation moment where I talk about how legal bindings in
belonging to
things, and things
belonging to us affect our attitude towards deprecation and waste. Then we together
make a list
of dead tech.
From a short discussion about what and why we consider to be dead, we split into
group to write
and then perform eulogies.
